About
We believe that dance should be enjoyed and accessible to all regardless of personal finance, race, culture and health. Dance for Life Devon delivers professional dance programmes for those who may not normally engage with the arts, particularly dance and classical ballet.
We aim to tackle social and health problems such as isolation and loneliness by offering inclusive dance classes for all ages, fitness levels, at any level of dance experience, encouraging a sense of community and belonging. Our carefully created projects support wellness for all stages of life, develop dance techniques, body awareness, self esteem and confidence .
We deliver professional, specialised dance classes to all ages; children, young people, adults and older adults. We support older bodies to maintain their physical mobility and freedom of movement. All through fun ballet and dance classes that offer not only a physical activity but a safe space for performance, expression, musicality and passion.
Through specialised programs like ‘Dance for Cancer Care’, ‘Dance with Dementia’ and ‘Dance for Parkinsons’ we hope to improve participants physical well-being, supporting those living with long term illness. These classes will give participants an outlet for self expression, time to reconnect with their bodies and find joy dancing with a supportive group.
Dance for Life Devon's projects are led by the community’s need and we will endeavour, when possible, to collaborate and work with other local organisations and charities who share our ethos to provide a cohesive and valid program of classes, events and opportunities for the people of Plymouth and the surrounding area.
